December 2011 Potluck and Ornament Swap

We had a fun get-together and scrumptious potluck in December! We also had a wonderful ornament swap with many fantastic polymer clay creations. If you didn’t join us, you missed out!

I will be adding more pics to this post, but here are a couple to get you started…the first pic is a set of ornaments that was auctioned off to raise money for the guild. The second pic is of Barb H.’s delightful angel ornaments.

November guild meeting

Enjoy some pics from our November 2011 guild meeting! Members brought in items for Show-n-tell, Barb H. did a demo on transfers, and Tejae showed us the Stroppel cane technique. Sculptures by Mitzi and Eva (Eva’s are the bears and I think, the turtles).

Sylvie Peraud Workshop

French artist Sylvie Peraud is having a workshop this coming weekend on Saturday, Nov. 19, in Longmont, CO. She will be teaching her “Mosaic Technique with Enameled Look” with participants creating a pair of earrings.

The Eileen J. Loring Polymer Clay Guild would like to invite members from Pikes Peak Polymer Clay Guild, Mile High Polymer Clay Guild, and Rocky Mountain Polymer Clay Guild to attend the “Meet the Artist” reception this coming Friday, Nov. 18, from 5-7pm at The First Lutheran Church of Longmont, 803 Third Avenue, Longmont, CO. It will be in Classroom 5, basement level. Enter through the lower level (door in covered garage), access parking from Pratt Street (not Pratt Parkway) just south of Third Avenue.

Sylvie Peraud will be there to meet everyone and give a small demonstration. She will have some items for show and sell. Join the EJL PC Guild in welcoming her to their guild as well as the area. Everyone is thrilled to have the opportunity to meet and learn from Sylvie!

If you are not already enrolled in the workshop, there is still room and time to send in your reservation, but please come to the reception even if you can’t attend the workshop.

P.S. If you do attend, here is a note from Sylvie with the list of materials:

Materials list

each student should bring :

1 small pack of black clay
1 small pack of white clay
1 small pack of clay of the color of their choice (it can of course be a hand mixed color, that’s even best)
liquid clay
The clay should be a firm clay like Kato polyclay (makes less fingerprints)
blades and scalpel
Pasta machine
small tile to work on or a working surface
roller
a template of the shape you’d like to give your earrings or a cutter (I’ll bring some to share also)
a needle tool (please don’t forget)
a chandelier light bulb or small round light bulb
baby wipes
a medium and thin sanding block
wet/dry sanding paper grit 800 and 1000 or if you have a micro mesh sanding kit (Prairy craft sells them)
earring findings or other if some rather make a pendant instead

If we could have a pan with baking soda this would be fine to bake the clay.
